Morning: Arrivals
Arrive at Mayfair, find your room, unpack, freshen up and settle in.
No rush before 11am. So take your time, have some tea, and come say hi once you settle in.
Midday: Juroon
We start with Juroon, an Assamese pre-wedding tradition and a generally light, fun, outdoors part of the celebrations to get things going.
Traditionally, the groom’s family arrives bearing gifts for the bride, with the ritual led by the women of the family with the groom's mother at the helm. Ours will be outdoors by the poolside on the hilltop.
If you feel like dressing to the mood, white, ivory, muga-gold, soft yellow and other light festive colours will fit in beautifully. Assamese or other Indian wear would be lovely, but absolutely not compulsory.
And because we’ll be outside in February, bring sunglasses.
Lunch follows.
Afternoon: Mehendi, if you fancy it
After lunch, the afternoon is yours.
There’ll be mehendi artists by the pool through the day, so if you’d like some, just wander over whenever you feel like it.
No fixed slots or ceremony about it. Just turn up, pick a design and remember that ambitious mehendi requires ambitious drying time.
7 pm. The Party at the Greenhouse
This is our cocktail party and sangeet rolled into one.
There’ll be cocktails, dancing, saxophone, and eventually a DJ to get everyone to dance.
Wear something evening festive, fun and comfortable enough to move in. Think brass and botanical. Indian, Western, somewhere in between, whatever feels like a good night out to you.
And maybe don’t make early morning plans for the following morning.
