Before we get to do that, a list of quick pointers about what to expect:

February is one of the nicest times to be in the Northeast. Days are usually pleasant and sunny (but with very early sunsets -- ask Rishi if you are in the mood for a geography/ politics rant about time zones in India), with day temperatures in Guwahati around 22-26°C, while mornings and evenings can drop to 10-16°C.

In short, warm in the sun, occasionally cool once it gets dark. A light jacket, shawl or sweater is worth bringing, especially if you tend to feel the cold.

Rain is usually limited at this time of year, though Assam occasionally likes to improvise also thanks to CC.

For wedding day outfits or suggestions for dress codes, see the Wedding Weekend tab. Beyond whatever you’re wearing to the wedding events, we suggest:

- Comfortable shoes or sandals. There will be lawns, and possibly some wandering around.
- A light layer for mornings and evenings. It's Feb.
- Sunglasses and sunscreen. Always good, Feb or not.
- Mosquito repellent, particularly if you’re someone mosquitoes find irresistible.
- Any regular medicines you need. Pharmacies are easy enough to find in Guwahati, but Mayfair is a little outside the city.
- Same for other essentials as well. 
- Something comfortable for downtime. We'll all hopefully have some of that too.

If you have an Indian bank account, UPI works pretty much everywhere. If you don't, cards are widely accepted at hotels and larger establishments. But it's good to keep some cash handy, useful for smaller shops, roadside stops.

If you’re heading onwards to Meghalaya, Arunachal, Nagaland or elsewhere in the Northeast (we hope you are; please do see the TWIP section of this website), pack separately for that destination. Temperatures can be considerably colder than Guwahati, particularly in the hills.
